Thanks to your donations and the hard work of our staff and volunteers, great things happened in December 2024! We were especially grateful to provide 60 Christmas Stockings to our guests on the Monday before Christmas, and we were open on Christmas Day. There were 17 people who came to the shelter on Christmas Day to stay warm, eat cookies, and watch Christmas movies. Thank you to our amazing volunteers who made it possible for us to stay open and serve people in need!
The donors who stuffed the stockings did a fantastic job this year! Each stocking had gloves, socks, hygiene supplies, full-size candy bars, candy canes, chapstick, hand warmers, fresh fruit, snacks, and Christmas cookies that were baked by the volunteers and youth at our Saturday Drop-In Center. The best part: An incredible donor provided 60 gift cards for McDonalds at $20 each! These were the best stockings we've ever distributed.
San Miguel de Socorro, our local Catholic parish, hosted their annual Giving Tree event where participants wrote items on paper ornaments and purchased and wrapped items for people in need. The ornaments and gifts were beautiful! Thanks to their efforts, many of our community members got new boots, fuzzy blankets, tents, sleeping bags, and self-care items. It was a happy day in December, and a very Merry Christmas indeed!
